Once again, my favorite governor, Gov. Christ Christie of New Jersey, shows how to be a leader. It’s amazing to hear him talk without the doublespeak that we’ve come to expect from politicians. New Jersey has this awesome guy to lead their state, and here in Illinois we’ve got Pat Quinn.

Look at New Jersey, people of Illinois. Learn from their example. Get rid of the mindless Democrats who are killing our state, and vote for conservatives who will turn things around.

One of the big stories in the news lately has been the poll that showed almost 20% of Americans believe that Obama is a Muslim. Of course, the various reports of the poll that I heard on the radio were always phrased something like this from a FoxNews article: “A new survey reports a sharp increase in the number of Americans who, incorrectly, say President Obama is a Muslim.” The interesting thing here is the assertion by the news media – even FoxNews that is supposedly SO right-wing – that Obama is a Christian just because he says he is.

When you take the politics out of this and boil it down to common sense, it’s fairly straightforward. “If it looks like a duck, swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck, then it probably is a duck.” – Wikipedia Kyle-Ann Shiver at American Thinker lines out all the things that make Americans think that he’s a Muslim – and there are quite a few.

As usual, the mainstream media missed the point completely. The MSM wants to talk about how either Americans aren’t very smart, or Obama doesn’t publicize his visits to Church enough.

Whether he is a card-carrying Muslim or not is hardly important. The bigger point is what Obama’s Muslim leanings mean to this country. His “soft spot” for the Muslim faith is affecting our relationships with both our allies and our enemies. His actions are an indication that his allegiance isn’t necessarily to America, and that scares people.

If Obama keeps looking, swimming and quacking like a duck, more and more Americans are going to assume he’s a duck.

It’s hard to miss the Recovery Act Stimulus signs if they’re in your area. They’re big, obnoxious, and pointless – unless you’re a Democrat regime bent on convincing the public that you helped them in some way.

Rep. Aaron Schock has gone after the stimulus signs in Illinois, calling them “the height of narcissism”. They’re also a waste of money, since they don’t provide any real information – they just promote the program itself.

Apparently, pressure from Rep. Darrell Issa has forced certain agencies to change their rules to make the signs no longer required. However, they are still “strongly encouraged”, which is code for “we’re not gonna make you do it, but you had better do it, if you know what I mean – wink wink”.

In our area, we got to look at a couple big annoying signs while one of our streets was re-paved. Oddly, no one who lives on or travels the street thought it needed re-paving. They assume some “person of importance” must live there, which is how things usually work around here. While that street was getting re-paved, the streets in my area haven’t been touched in the 10 years that I’ve lived there. We have grass growing up through cracks in the pavement, no curbs, no sidewalks, and a patchwork of concrete and asphalt patches on top of patches. Apparently the people on my street aren’t important enough to be bought off with new pavement.

Don’t look for the signs or the stupidity to go away any time soon, and definitely don’t expect it if you don’t get your butt off the couch and educate yourself before the elections in November. If the Obama/Pelosi/Reid triumvirate stays in charge, it’s just gonna get worse.

Normally I try to avoid the whole subject of gays and same-sex marriage.  I definitely have an opinion on it, but it’s one of those things that’s just not worth arguing about. You’re not going to convince or convert anyone over to your side, so what’s the point? Spend your time and efforts in other areas, like electing conservatives to Congress to try and save our country from Marxism.

However, the California Prop 8 case is in the news, and so many people are commenting on it that I thought I’d line out my views on the matter. Here goes.

As a Catholic, and a pretty conservative one at that, I believe that homosexuality is against God’s will. However, ALSO as a Catholic, I am not crusading against homosexuals in my neighborhood. I’m not trying to run them out of town, and I’m not trying to convince them of the error of their ways. That’s their problem.

I feel that the big reason many Christians have a problem with same-sex marriage is that to us, marriage isn’t just a civil contract. It’s one of our sacraments, given to us by God to follow. It’s a holy rite at which we are blessed by God. For a same-sex couple to become “married” is an affront to our beliefs, since someone who is with sin should not be receiving sacraments until he repents.

So where does this leave us? Well, I’ve always thought it made sense to allow “civil unions”. Come up with a “civil union” license with is binding for all legal purposes just like a marriage license is.

The problem is, as much as that makes sense to me and many like myself, the idea has never caught on in the pro-same-sex-marriage ranks. They say things like, “we should have the legal right to medical information and visits if our partner is in the hospital”. Yet when someone suggests civil union licenses that would cover all of their complains, the idea is brushed aside. My feeling is that regardless of all their rhetoric, the people pushing the whole idea of same-sex marriage are really focused on one thing, and that’s to force everyone else to accept their lifestyle whether they agree with it or not.

We’re constantly inundated with the gay lifestyle on television, in the movies, and in the news media. Hollywood liberals manage to insert homosexual characters or traits or even outright behavior into almost every show or movie that hits the screen. The goal is to numb us to the point where we’re so used to it that we don’t even notice it anymore.

When that happens, they’ll push their next agenda on us.  I wonder what that will be?

If you’re one of those people who still think the government is here to help and don’t realize how out of control it has gotten, you need to pay more attention to what’s really going on in this country and less attention to the mainstream media’s liberal-filtered so-called “news”.

Read about this incident in Oregon where health inspectors have let their power go to their heads to the point where common sense has been completely lost. Regulating lemonade stands?  Are you serious? You’re going to make a kid get a $120 license to run a lemonade stand?

We’ve got to turn this country around, everyone! This nonsense has GOT TO STOP before we’ve got Big Brother inside our bathrooms telling us we’re using too much toilet paper. You might laugh, but they’re already regulating how much water our toilets can use. Is it really that much of a stretch to think they’ll continue to push for more and more control of every aspect of our lives?

The pieces just keep coming together.  I’m reminded of the “six degrees of separation” theory, where everyone is separated from anyone else by no more than 6 steps.

Obama, Giannoulias, Rezko and Nadhmi Auchi are linked together in a nasty web that stinks of corruption, and Auchi is even linked to Saddam Hussein.  It’s especially interesting that supposedly Obama met Auchi in Rezko’s home AFTER Auchi had been convicted in France.  Then 2 years later, Giannoulias’ Broadway Bank loaned money to Rezko and Auchi.  Rezko can be linked back to Rod and Patty Blagojevich.  Rod has suddenly become very silent after months of running his mouth about how the truth would come out in the trial.

It’s Chicago politics as usual folks.  Don’t take your eyes off the ball or they’ll make this whole thing disappear and you’ll be left wondering what happened.

This ad from the Republican Governors Association is impressive.  It strings together a combination of images and sound bites that really got my attention. Share this video with everyone you can.

H/T Illinois Review:

At first I thought it was a joke.  At least it sounded like one.

The tall woman with long brown hair walks up the front steps to her best friend’s house and rings the bell. Her friend opens the door and the tall woman gives her a little hug before entering the premises. Out by the hedge something moves. The door closes and from behind the hedge crawls a slight man with a a badge and a stainless steel comb. The little man crawls with cat-like stealth around the side of the house and perches himself where he can see through the kitchen window. “Aha!” he softly proclaims. He touches the button on his headset and whispers, “The hen is in the fox-house. Repeat, the hen is in the fox-house!” In his headset, he hears a female voice, “maintain your position until backup arrives.” “Roger!” is all the little man replies. The voice on the other end responds, “I know your name, just wait where you are!”

Yes, our bonehead Illinois government has passed a law to cover the regulation of hair-braiders.  Apparently the business of hair-braiding was out of control in Illinois.

I’ve always thought the whole barber license thing was a complete joke.  It’s an obvious scam to collect fees from people so the government can spend more money on social programs.  Not enough money to spend?  Regulate something else and charge license fees.  This time it’s hair-braiding.

What will it be tomorrow?  A license to mow lawns?  How about a license to clean houses?  With the liberals in charge, what part of our lives will the government NOT be involved in?

Remember November, people!  We’ve got to stop this insanity before it gets any worse.

If you’re one of those people who’ve doubted or just refused to believe that the mainstream media is totally in the tank for Obama and his liberal cronies, you need to read this article at the Daily Caller.  Not only is the MSM left-leaning, they are organized and working as a group to stifle certain news to protect their chosen Democrat politicians.

There is good news for the 17th congressional district of Illinois, of which I happen to be a member.  Republican Bobby Schilling is leading Democrat incumbent Phil Hare in a recent poll by a pretty big margin.

If you’re not familiar with Hare, he’s basically a yes-man for the Chicago Democrat machine.  He’s also been known to say some pretty dumb things in public, which has endeared him to residents of Quincy.

I’ve gotta give Hare a little credit though.  At least he lets himself be seen in public, even if he DOES take a heck of a beating.  In comparison, our own Senator Dick “Turban” Durbin won’t come to Quincy unless he can slip in and out without having to actually talk to anyone who might ask a hard question.

Bobby Schilling has my vote.  If you’re reading this and you want  to once again be able to tell  people you live in Illinois without being embarrassed, get off your butt and support Bobby Schilling!
