Over the years, it’s become fashionable for some types of people to ridicule George W. Bush. Pretty much anything about the guy has been made fun of. Like him or not, though, you have to admit when he gets it right. While Obama raised eyebrows by mentioning Fort Hood as a side-note to a speech about the Tribal Nations Conference, Bush did a typical Bush thing and visited those in mourning. (FoxNews broke the story here) Bush instinctively knew the right thing to do was to visit the suffering and show them respect and appreciation for their service. Those people will never forget that visit. They’ll also never forget Obama’s “shout-out” to “Dr. Joe Medicine Crow” during a speech where they were expecting him to acknowledge their loss and offer a few words of encouragement.
Of course, the Bush-haters will find fault in this. They’ll claim that if it weren’t for Bush, Muslim’s wouldn’t hate Americans enough to gun down American soldiers. Typical nonsense, and there’s not much that can be done to convince a hater that their hate is unjustified.
