Book review review

Aaron’s review of Lord Foul’s Bane reminded me that I’ve been wanting to go back and re-read that series of books for awhile now.  I asked Aaron to borrow his, and a week later I’m ready for the next book.

I think the biggest thing I had forgotten about was the writer’s ability to express so much internal pain though words.  The pain and sorrow that fills the central character is so vivid, so horrifying. There are points in the book where you can picture and feel the sadness so clearly, you wish you could reach out and reassure the character that all is NOT lost, and there IS a reason to live in this world.

Aaron mentioned he’d like to see a movie or series.  I’d watch it, but I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a movie convey that kind of personal anguish.  It would take an amazing director to keep from turning the story into a bunch of action scenes.
