ACORN spokesman Charles Jackson quoted in this article at World Net Daily as saying, “This is the first we’ve heard of these ‘tea parties’ and, frankly, a gripe-fest by a bunch of conservatives whose preferred economic policies got us in this mess in the first place is of no interest to us.”
Mr. Jackson, you’re either a bald-faced liar or completely incompetent. I’m betting it’s the first. You can’t seriously expect anyone to believe that not only have you not heard of the Tax Day Tea Party movement, but that the ACORN “rallies in support of the priorities outlines in President Obama’s first budget” are just coincidentally planned for the same day as the National Tea Party rallies.
The reality is that you’re scared to death that you’re getting beaten at your own game. It’s a liberal activist thing to have rallies and make signs and protest things. The idea that conservatives might actually do the same thing scares the crap out of you. You’ve always counted on the conservative tendency to keep to themselves and want to be left alone. Well, you’ve pushed us too far. We’re organizing and getting involved, and there’s no telling what we can accomplish!

I hope ACORN does sponsor a bunch of rallies. They do most of their work behind the scenes, funding radicals and lobbying for misguided policies like the ones that created the mortgage bubble. The more they come out in the open, the more people might start to notice what they’re about, and connect that with the politicians who do their bidding.
I had a quick listen to about 10 min of Rush during lunch. People were calling in from various Tea Parties. All were psyched by the attendance and mood of the parties, and none reported any disturbances so far.
One guy was calling from a shopping plaza where 5000 people had gathered and people were having to park 1/2 mile away. That’s a good-sized crowd – it could be the ACORN and other troublemakers are a little worried about their own safety. I don’t think they have anything to worry about.
